Let
Me Shine Some Light On The
Subject
I am a country boy at heart, stuck in
the burbs for now...Workin on curing that soon,
I hope.....I am also looking to discover a path
in life that may enhance my potential....I would
like to be a poet, don't cha know it.....A
physicist would be cool......Or maybe a
therapist for therapists, sounds easy
enough.....
My name is Doug. I
am a 47 year old male. I live with degenerative
disc disease, chronic pain, and heart problems.
My disabilities are mild compared to some. But I
do know first hand how hard it can be to find
love and romance. I am able to walk and function
in a limited manner. Still I searched many years
looking for that special someone. But it was
always the same. Either my physical abilities or
the fact that I was on a fixed income caused
reluctancy on the part of my perspective
acquaintances.
One day I was
lucky enough to have landed on a link that
guided me to “Soulful Encounters”. A friendship
and dating website that was just what the doctor
ordered. It was specifically designed by the
disabled for the disabled and differently abled.
It was like a shining city on a hill, full of
men and women that were having the same
difficulties I was having finding companionship.
We are all the same here and know the hardships
that one faces in our everyday struggles.
Instead of trying to find the needle in the
haystack it was more like trying to find a
sewing machine in a barn. I believe ones chances
are increased immensely.
“Soulful
Encounters” is exactly what it says it is. I
know this because I have experienced
encountering many beautiful souls myself.
One in particular
has given me new hope on what was a dismal
outlook in the pursuit of a life partner and a
best friend. She has touched my soul and makes
me smile from the inside, out. Which is the best
medicine one could be given. A gift I may have
never received if it had not been for the very
first soul I encountered here, which is the
owner and administrator, Louise. Those are only
a couple of titles that describe this lovely
lady. There is not enough ink in a pen to depict
her vast character. I have heard her referred to
as angel, mom, sister, godsend and friend.
Louise is
tenacious in her efforts to create a gathering
place for the disabled and the medically
challenged from across the globe. A place to
meet new people, build friendships and best of
all, have loving relationships that can actually
give some of us whom thought we would never find
a soul mate, because of our life setbacks, hope,
and a new beginning. A chance to find happiness
and wallow in it…
This site reflects
all the wonderful qualities that comes from the
heart and soul of an amazing woman. Best of all
it’s free, which shows the quality of her
generosity. Louise gives of her money and time.
She has invested her whole heart and then some
to make others happy.
The quality of
caring is seen in the simplicity of navigating
the site. She has made it easy to enjoy the site
by providing helpful links to information that
can be useful to those in need of just about
anything having to do with making life easier to
cope with.
Her creativity and
keen intellect is seen throughout the site. We
get to have personal profile pages that are easy
to customize and lets one reveal as much of
themselves as they feel comfortable. Members
share their own unique qualities and talents
here, which makes it fun to just surf the
profiles and see what life is like for others. A
guest book on every ones profile where those
searching can leave a howdy or a nice comment
that can seriously change ones mood instantly.
Also a place to upload photos and share stories
of their own personal lives.
Her loyalty in the
untiring efforts she puts into personally
interviewing every perspective newcomer to the
site in order to protect her members. Her
personal conviction in keeping the site safe and
fun to be in is unending.
Her loving
kindness shows in the blogs of members who truly
care about others and professionals that give
practical information on a variety of medical
issues, spiritual guidance and so much
more.
There are forums
where we can share ideas, poetry, recipes,
prayers. There are tips on dating, medical
information and resources. Just another great
source of communicating with others.
She has given us a
wonderful chat room where many members go to
regularly to keep in touch, to share the days
events and to laugh and cut up till we lose all
track of time. I have personally seen
relationships flourish in this little corner of
the site.
Louise has earned
my respect, my gratitude and I am truly honored
to have been so lucky to have crossed paths with
such a beautiful soul.
Her honesty,
integrity, perseverance, intuition, charisma,
her problem solving ability, her accepting
nature, and the wonderful gift she has given me
is why I love this sweet lady so
much.
Louise is Soulful
Encounters. From such a wonderful person has
come a wonderful site.

mio: I shall always cherish this first poem you
wrote to me. You have given so much of yourself
to me in such a short period of time, and I am
truly grateful for all of it. There are times
when I feel so unworthy of your love and hope to
become more worthy each and every day. Thank you
Doug, for opening you heart to me and giving me
your trust. Te amo todo para siempre,
Kate

My angry
prayer
i
sit here alone, sad and afraid the sins
of my fathers are yet unpaid another
dagger stabbath thine heart
as death stalks my family to tear it
apart my dear mother stricken with
sorrow not knowing today what may come
tomorrow she has her faith, may she
hold on tight amswer her prayers when
she prays at night the things i have i
would gladly give to have my mom, to
let her live i need her here, i need
her advice to take her now is too high
a price the scale of your judgments are
weighted unfair i've lost all i've
loved, i live in despair what your
asking me now i cannot concur she's all
i have left, she's all i prefer please
give her the miracle she needs to
survive all i ask is to keep her
alive.................................

still miss her a lot everyday. Your "Angry
Prayer" really touched me! Very Nice! You have a

and Me...
Home Today, Less
Tomorrow
We sit at home, comfortable and
glad…
Relaxing in the security of our
bachelor pad…
When all of a sudden the floor
falls out…
Puppets perform and statues move
about…
Eviction looms to render us
lost…
This must be what trash feels
like when it gets tossed…
Like jackals driving the weak
from the herd…
Displaced from familiar, our
deepest fears stirred…
As a leaf in a stream we drift
with the flow…
We’ll get where were going, but
the going is slow…
Thanks to the Landlords that
create this mess…
Money over people is true
selfishness…
But we embark on our journey,
confused and dismayed…

Doug: Well now! Since you already know "how I
am" it will not surprise you in the least that
I'm curious as to what Bible verse enriched your
soul and to which God you prayed? I believe this
proves my point: though you wouldn't give a plug
nickel for "Organized Religion," you are in fact
a spiritual man. The Defense rests (so there).
LOL:) Love you always, Katie P.S. I think you
are a man of great courage and fortitude. And
one, of course, that I would NEVER play cards
with;)
12-Feb - KateWms Your
beautiful poem Has brought me to tears It speaks
of your love, Mistakes, and some fears. Your
love for your daughter and her child, So
tenderly expressed Their lives and love, With
which you’ve been blessed. These words that
you’ve written About respect, dreams, and love
They begin in the heart, However, truly come
from above. Without these precious gifts
Whatever would we do? These precious gifts we’ve
been given Now, with little ones, too Our lives
are the sweeter What a marvelous fact! All this
sweetness has come From one glorious act. Thank
you, Doug, for making our lives here so much
brighter. Your work shines so brightly from the
window of your precious soul! Always, Kate

I love Version II! It is perfect for this Site.
But, honestly, I have to say that Version I
knocked me off my feet. From the first line you
hooked me and by the last word........well, I
keep a box of tissues near my computer now. You
are a passionate and sensitive man, Doug. It's
such a wonderous adventure getting to know
you......a complex mystery wrapped in an enigma;
each layer more precious than the last. I am
certain there is no end to the layers, but I'm
going to have fun trying to peel them anyway:)
And though you might not believe it as yet, I
love you Doug. Always,
Katie

Darling, You have my heart for as long as you
wish to possess it. I belong to you, and you
alone, from this moment until the end of time.

Hi
Doug aka Backwards! Great to see you on chat.
You've got a wonderful sense of humour and a
definate talent for writing! Your entries are
creative and certainly a good read! I have
several journal memoirs of the many kids and

life. Some are heart wrenching and some are
quite funny! Blessings to you and Kate. She is a

Doug: Just stopped by to say "Hello" and hope
that life is treating you kindly. A glimpse into
my soul is what you wish? Hmmm...let's see: I am
an Opera fan, most especially ANYTHING by
Puccini, "La Boheme" being my favotite. Also,
since the age of 3 I've had the secret wish to
become a prima ballerina. I started dancing at
age 5, eventually got "en pointe," but undershot
the height requirement by about a mile;) lol
Still, I sometimes imagine myself happily
twirling about. My pink toe shoes are still
carefully wrapped in tissue paper and reside in
the bottom of a wooden chest, and of course on
my feet - but only in dreams:) There are only
two people still living who know about this
little piece of my soul, now you are the third.
Kate 22-Feb - KateWms Dear
Doug: Here is another secret from my heart to
yours. I have pink fuzzy bunny slippers. My
daughter gave them to me as a present two years
ago and I have loved them every minute since.
Besides my green blanket, my bunny slippers are
my most prized possession. As you may have
guessed, comfort is important to me. Hard to
have kitty-cat naps without a blankie and
slippers:) Love,
Kate
